Class Curriculums

"The Roots and Rhythm of Salsa - basic Cuban Style Salsa - also known as "Casino" - There are four sections in this step by step program for mastering Cuban Style Salsa.
- Beginning 1
- Beginning 2 - rueda de casino is introduced at week 4
- Intermediate 1 - partner dancing plus rueda de casino
- Intermediate 2 - partner dancing plus rueda de casino

Beginning 1 - No prerequisite required - Only partner dance moves are taught.

Basic Steps

1. Basic step forward and back
2. Basic step side to side
3. Basic step cumbia Style

The Building Blocks of Salsa

1. Posición Sociál - Social position or closed basic
2. Guapea - Open position basic
3. Prima - partner move going from open position to closed position
4. Dila Que No - cross body lead
5. Lady's right turn
5. Enchufa la - Similiar to left hand turn in swing
- Enchufa la doble
6. Sombrero

Beginning 2 - Prerequisite - Beginning 1 or equivalent - Participants will begin to learn rueda de casino halfway through the session

- Candado Complicado

Moves that move around each other

Intermediate 1 - Beginning 1 and 2 (This class is not currently offered until the next session) - Both partner dancing and rueda de casino will be featured. All moves that begin and end with one partner are partner dancing moves that are incorporated into a rueda

Intermediate 2- This class is for those who have mastered the first three sections of Cuban Style salsa and will include variations and complications of the above moves

Moves taught in Intermediate 2 will draw from the above curriculum and expand the above moves in longer, more difficult combinations.
